Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - Wii brings characters from Nintendo’s Mario series and Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise together for a collection of events inspired by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Players can choose from characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman, each with different strengths in speed, power, skill, and stamina.
Gameplay uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to simulate a variety of Olympic-style activities, including track and field, swimming, gymnastics, fencing, shooting, rowing, and other events. Motion controls are used for actions such as running, throwing, swinging, and timing jumps, while many events support local multiplayer for competitive group play. Additional Dream Events add exaggerated, arcade-style twists to the traditional sports lineup.
Developed by Sega Sports R&D and published by Sega in 2007, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games marked the first official video game crossover between Mario and Sonic.
