Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is a tactical third-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Paris, serving as the first open-world entry in the long-running franchise. Set in a near-future Bolivia, the game casts players as "Ghosts"—an elite four-person U.S. Special Operations team—tasked with destabilizing the Santa Blanca drug cartel through a series of "Operation Kingslayer" missions. The game features one of the largest open-world maps ever created by Ubisoft, encompassing 21 diverse provinces with unique ecosystems, including salt flats, jungles, and high-altitude mountains.
The gameplay emphasizes total player agency, allowing every objective to be approached via stealth, long-range sniping, or direct frontal assault. To navigate the massive terrain, players have access to over 60 different vehicles, including motorcycles, armored SUVs, and attack helicopters. Combat is supported by a deep Gunsmith system, which allows for the customization of over 50 authentic weapons with interchangeable scopes, stocks, and suppressors. A key technical feature is the Tactical Drone, which can be upgraded to scout enemy positions, jam electronics, or even deliver explosive payloads.
Wildlands is built for 4-player seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op, allowing friends to join a session at any time without resetting mission progress. When playing solo, the player is supported by three AI teammates who can be issued "Sync Shot" commands to take down multiple targets simultaneously. On the Xbox One, the game targets a 30fps frame rate at a 900p native resolution. For owners of the Xbox One X, the game is enhanced to support a dynamic 4K resolution with improved draw distances and more detailed environmental textures.
