Players begin their journey in Pallet Town, choosing between Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle as they set out to collect Gym Badges and become a Pokémon Champion.
The gameplay centers around turn-based battles, capturing and training Pokémon, and building a balanced team to take on Gym Leaders and the Elite Four. As players explore towns, forests, caves, and routes, they also encounter Team Rocket, a criminal organization operating throughout the region.
