In Pokémon Silver Version, you embark on a sprawling journey through the brand-new Johto region, starting in New Bark Town with a choice between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. As the second generation of the series, Silver introduces 100 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 251, while tasking you with stopping the remnants of Team Rocket and capturing the legendary "Guardian of the Seas," Lugia.
The game revolutionized the franchise with a real-time clock that powers a dynamic Day/Night cycle, affecting which Pokémon appear in the wild. It also introduced deep new mechanics like Pokémon breeding at the Day Care, the ability for Pokémon to hold items (like Berries) in battle, and two new types: Steel and Dark. The ultimate surprise remains the post-game, where you can travel back to the Kanto region to earn eight original badges and face the legendary Red atop Mt. Silver.
