Luigi's Mansion - GameCube is an action-adventure game that puts Luigi in the spotlight after he wins a mysterious mansion in a contest he never entered. When Mario disappears inside, Luigi teams up with Professor E. Gadd and enters the haunted building to search for his brother while confronting ghosts, locked rooms, and supernatural puzzles throughout the mansion.
Gameplay centers on using the Poltergust 3000 vacuum to capture ghosts after stunning them with Luigi’s flashlight. Players explore interconnected rooms, search for keys and hidden items, solve environmental puzzles, and battle portrait ghosts with unique behaviors and weaknesses. Luigi also uses the Game Boy Horror device to examine objects, track clues, and communicate with Professor E. Gadd as new areas of the mansion become accessible.
Developed and published by Nintendo in 2001, Luigi's Mansion was a launch title for the Nintendo GameCube and established Luigi’s ghost-hunting adventures as a series of its own.
