VectorMan 2 for the SEGA Genesis continues the sci-fi action-platforming adventure of its predecessor, once again placing players in control of the orb-based robot hero tasked with saving Earth. Following the defeat of WarHead, VectorMan is shot down while returning to his space station and crash-lands back on the polluted planet. With a new threat rising from the remnants of the rogue Orbots, VectorMan must battle through hostile environments to prevent Earth from falling into chaos once more.
The sequel builds on the fast-paced platforming and run-and-gun combat of the original game while introducing new transformations and gameplay mechanics. VectorMan can morph into specialized forms such as vehicles, bombs, and other utility shapes, allowing him to tackle obstacles and enemies in creative ways. Levels are more experimental, featuring underwater sections, rail-style segments, and puzzle-focused challenges that emphasize both reflexes and adaptability. The orb-based animation returns, delivering smooth movement and expressive character actions.
Often referred to simply as VectorMan 2, this SEGA Genesis title is known for its ambitious level design and expanded mechanics, though it leans more heavily into challenge and experimentation than its predecessor.
