Description

Hoops - NES is an arcade-style basketball game focused on fast two-on-two street competition. Players choose from a roster of fictional athletes and take to an outdoor court for quick matches built around shooting, passing, rebounding, steals, and aggressive one-on-one defense.

Gameplay emphasizes simple controls and fast possessions rather than detailed simulation. Players can drive toward the basket, take jump shots, pass to a teammate, block attempts, and fight for rebounds while trying to outscore the opposing pair. Different players have their own strengths, encouraging teams to balance shooting ability, speed, and inside play. The game supports both single-player and local multiplayer competition.

Developed by Aicom and published by Jaleco in 1989, Hoops offers a compact street-basketball experience with colorful 8-bit presentation and straightforward arcade action. Its two-on-two format, varied player roster, competitive local play, and pick-up-and-play design make it an appealing choice for retro sports fans and Nintendo Entertainment System collectors.
