Description

Rad Racer - NES is an arcade-style racing game that puts players behind the wheel of high-speed sports cars across a series of point-to-point courses. Races take place on highways and scenic routes filled with traffic, sharp turns, hills, and changing environments, with players working against the clock to reach checkpoints before time runs out.

Gameplay focuses on steering through traffic, maintaining speed, and reacting quickly to curves and road hazards while advancing through increasingly difficult stages. Players can choose between two vehicles with different visual styles, and the game includes a turbo boost for reaching higher speeds. The original NES release also supports an optional 3D viewing effect using compatible red-and-blue glasses.

Developed and published by Square and released for the NES in North America in 1987, Rad Racer became one of the system’s better-known early racing games. Its fast pace, colorful roadside scenery, simple controls, and arcade-inspired presentation make it an appealing choice for retro racing fans and collectors building an NES library.
