Description

Willow - NES is an action RPG inspired by the 1988 fantasy film, following Willow Ufgood on a quest to protect the infant Elora Danan and defeat the evil Queen Bavmorda. Players travel across a large fantasy world filled with villages, forests, caves, castles, and dangerous creatures while meeting characters and completing objectives tied to the larger adventure.

Gameplay uses an overhead perspective and combines real-time sword combat with exploration, magic, equipment upgrades, and character progression. Willow gains experience by defeating enemies, allowing him to become stronger as the journey continues. New swords, shields, magical abilities, and useful items can be discovered throughout the world, while towns provide opportunities to speak with characters and gather information needed to reach new areas.

Developed and published by Capcom and released for the NES in North America in 1989, Willow differs significantly from the film by expanding its story into a larger role-playing adventure. Its real-time combat, leveling system, fantasy setting, and exploration-focused design make it an appealing choice for action RPG fans and Nintendo Entertainment System collectors.
