Description

Xevious - Famicom, released in Japan as ゼビウス, is a vertically scrolling shooter that places players in control of the Solvalou fighter as it battles the invading Xevious forces. Players fly across forests, rivers, deserts, and enemy installations while destroying both airborne attackers and ground-based targets.

Gameplay uses two separate weapons: a forward-firing zapper for aerial enemies and bombs for targets on the ground. Players must watch both the skies and the landscape, lining up bombing sights while avoiding enemy fire and navigating increasingly dense formations. Hidden targets and bonus opportunities reward careful observation, while the game’s steady scrolling and escalating enemy patterns create a challenging score-focused arcade experience.

Developed and published by Namco, Xevious was released for the Japanese Family Computer in 1984 following the success of the original arcade game. Its dual-targeting combat, distinctive science-fiction presentation, memorable music, and importance in early Japanese shooting-game history make it an appealing choice for arcade fans, import enthusiasts, and Famicom collectors.
