Maximo: Ghosts to Glory - PlayStation 2 is a 3D action-platformer inspired by Capcom’s classic Ghosts ’n Goblins series. Players take control of Maximo, a young king who returns to find his kingdom overrun by the undead and his throne stolen by the sorcerer Achille. Armed with a sword and shield, Maximo sets out to rescue Queen Sophia and reclaim his kingdom.
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory combines fast-paced melee combat with platforming, exploration, and light puzzle solving. Players battle skeletons, monsters, and other supernatural enemies while jumping across hazards, searching for hidden areas, and collecting upgrades. Maximo can learn new sword techniques, improve his defensive abilities, and equip different skills that change how he approaches combat and traversal.
The game features multiple themed areas filled with branching paths, secrets, checkpoints, and boss encounters. Its armor system also pays tribute to Ghosts ’n Goblins, with Maximo losing pieces of armor as he takes damage until he is left fighting in his boxer shorts.
