Description
Description
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for Nintendo DS is a standout entry in the series that blends classic exploration with fast-paced action and a unique dual-character system. Set during World War II, the game follows Jonathan Morris, heir to the Vampire Killer bloodline, and Charlotte Aulin, a powerful young mage, as they investigate a mysterious castle that has appeared and threatens to unleash darkness across the world. With Dracula’s influence looming and new dangers hidden within the halls, the pair must work together to uncover the truth and stop the rising evil.
Gameplay stays true to the Metroidvania style, featuring a large interconnected castle filled with secrets, upgrades, and boss battles, while also introducing multiple “portrait” worlds that transport you to entirely different locations with their own themes and challenges. You can switch between Jonathan and Charlotte at any time, using Jonathan’s weapon mastery for close-range combat and Charlotte’s spells for powerful ranged attacks and support abilities. The ability to combine their strengths adds variety and strategy throughout the adventure.
With its strong visuals, memorable soundtrack, rewarding exploration, and deep combat options, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is a must-have Nintendo DS title for fans of action RPGs and one of the best handheld Castlevania games ever released.
