Mega Man ZX for Nintendo DS marks a bold evolution of the classic Mega Man formula, blending high-speed 2D action with open-ended exploration in a world that bridges the gap between the Zero and Legends timelines. Developed by Inti Creates and Capcom, this entry introduces new characters, a deeper story, and a flexible transformation system that lets players adapt to any challenge.
Set centuries after the events of the Mega Man Zero series, the game introduces two protagonists—Vent and Aile—who stumble upon Biometal Model X and Model Z. These powerful relics fuse with their hosts to create Model ZX, a new Mega Man form capable of harnessing multiple abilities and fighting styles. As the story unfolds, players unlock additional Biometals, allowing them to transform into new forms with unique weapons, mobility, and special powers.
Mega Man ZX features nonlinear progression, allowing players to choose missions from a central hub and explore interconnected environments in a Metroidvania-style structure. The touchscreen is used for navigation and managing transformations, while the classic run-and-gun gameplay remains tight and responsive. Each form brings its own strategy—whether it’s Model HX’s aerial agility, Model LX’s underwater prowess, or Model FX’s explosive firepower.
