Professor Layton and the Unwound Future for the Nintendo DS is a story-driven puzzle adventure that serves as the conclusion to the original Professor Layton trilogy. The game follows the gentlemanly Professor Hershel Layton and his apprentice Luke Triton after they receive a mysterious letter supposedly sent by Layton himself from ten years in the future. This strange message draws them into a sprawling mystery involving time travel, fate, and a city that appears to exist outside the normal flow of time.
The investigation leads Layton and Luke through Clock Town and the enigmatic future version of London, where they encounter new allies and old acquaintances alike. As with earlier entries, the adventure is driven by a large collection of logic puzzles, riddles, and brainteasers that must be solved to progress the story. These puzzles are woven naturally into the narrative, encouraging careful observation, deduction, and creative thinking rather than quick reflexes.
Often referred to simply as Unwound Future or Professor Layton 3, this Nintendo DS title is known for its emotional storytelling and polished presentation.
