Description
Description
Tetris - NES is Nintendo’s home-console version of the classic falling-block puzzle game created by Alexey Pajitnov. Players arrange seven differently shaped tetrominoes as they fall into a rectangular playfield, rotating and positioning each piece to create complete horizontal lines. Clearing lines prevents the stack from reaching the top of the screen as the game gradually becomes faster and more demanding.
Gameplay includes two primary modes. Type A is an endless score-based challenge where players clear as many lines as possible while the falling speed increases, while Type B challenges players to clear 25 lines with selectable starting heights and difficulty levels. Consecutive line clears and four-line “Tetris” clears award higher scores, making careful piece placement and planning essential. The Nintendo NES version is designed as a single-player experience.
Developed and published by Nintendo and released for the NES in North America in 1989, Tetris became one of the best-known puzzle games on the system. Its simple rules, escalating difficulty, memorable music, and highly replayable score-based design make it an essential title for puzzle game fans, retro players, and collectors building an NES library.
