RAGE for PlayStation 3 is a first-person action game set in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity struggles to survive in the aftermath of a catastrophic asteroid impact. Developed by id Software, the creators of DOOM and Quake, the game combines intense shooter gameplay with exploration, vehicle combat, and role-playing elements in a dangerous wasteland filled with bandits, mutants, and oppressive military forces.
Players emerge from an underground survival shelter known as an Ark and find themselves thrust into a harsh world where settlements cling to survival amid constant threats. As they travel between outposts and settlements, players take on missions, uncover secrets, and become involved in a conflict against the Authority, a powerful organization seeking to control what remains of civilization.
Combat features a wide variety of weapons, ammunition types, gadgets, and equipment that can be upgraded and customized. In addition to on-foot gunfights, players can participate in high-speed vehicle races and combat encounters using customizable vehicles equipped with offensive and defensive upgrades.
