The game follows a high school student who, after being wrongfully accused and placed on probation, discovers the ability to enter a supernatural realm known as the Metaverse. There, he becomes the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a secret group that infiltrates the twisted Palaces of corrupt adults to change their hearts and bring their crimes to light.
The narrative revolves around a growing cast of rebellious allies, including the passionate Ann Takamaki, the sharp-minded student council member Makoto Niijima, the eccentric artist Yusuke Kitagawa, and the reclusive yet brilliant hacker Futaba Sakura. Alongside the talking cat-like companion Morgana, the team balances everyday student life with dangerous dungeon exploration. Combat centers on turn-based battles where players summon Personas—powerful manifestations of the characters’ inner selves inspired by mythological and historical figures—to exploit enemy weaknesses and gain the upper hand.
