Battle Hunter - PlayStation is a tactical role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic future where civilization is rebuilding after a devastating global war. Players take the role of a Hunter, a mercenary who ventures into dangerous ruins in search of valuable relics and lost technology. Each mission combines exploration, competition, and combat as Hunters race to secure their objective and escape safely.
Gameplay takes place on grid-based dungeon maps and blends strategy RPG mechanics with board game elements. Movement, attacks, defense, and other actions are influenced by cards and dice rolls, requiring players to adapt their plans as each mission develops. Characters can collect items, earn money, and improve their abilities between expeditions. The game also supports up to four players locally with a PlayStation Multitap, allowing multiple Hunters to compete for treasure on the same map.
Developed by Success and published in North America by Agetec in 2001, Battle Hunter offers an unusual combination of tactical combat, character progression, randomized elements, and competitive multiplayer.
