Description
Description
Grand Theft Auto 2 for the PlayStation expands on the groundbreaking open-world formula established by the original game, placing players in a sprawling futuristic city where rival criminal organizations compete for power. As a small-time criminal looking to make a name for yourself, you'll take on jobs for competing gangs, earn respect, and decide which factions to support while causing plenty of mayhem along the way.
Explore an interconnected city from a top-down perspective as you steal vehicles, complete missions, evade relentless police pursuits, and discover countless opportunities for chaos. Every decision affects your standing with the game's rival gangs, opening new mission paths while making enemies of others. With a wide variety of vehicles, weapons, hidden bonuses, and nonstop action, no two playthroughs are exactly alike.
Developed by DMA Design and published by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto 2 was released in 1999 as the final top-down entry in the series before the revolutionary transition to fully 3D gameplay in Grand Theft Auto III. Its reputation system, open-ended mission structure, and sandbox gameplay helped lay the foundation for one of gaming's most influential franchises.
Whether you're completing your PlayStation collection, revisiting the origins of the Grand Theft Auto series, or discovering this classic for the first time, Grand Theft Auto 2 offers a unique blend of freedom, strategy, and action that remains an important chapter in gaming history.
