Super Mario 3D World - Wii U is a 3D platforming adventure that sends Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad through the Sprixie Kingdom after Bowser captures its fairy-like rulers. Players travel across colorful worlds filled with platforming challenges, hidden areas, enemies, collectibles, and inventive stage mechanics while working toward Bowser’s stronghold.
Gameplay blends the movement of 3D Mario games with the focused level structure of the classic side-scrolling series. Up to four players can play together locally, with each character offering different movement traits. Power-ups include the Super Bell, which gives characters a Cat Suit for climbing walls and performing pounce attacks, along with familiar items such as the Fire Flower and Super Leaf. Players can also collect Green Stars and Stamps hidden throughout stages.
Developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo and published by Nintendo in 2013, Super Mario 3D World became one of the Wii U’s standout platformers.
