The story follows Solid Snake as he infiltrates Shadow Moses Island to stop the terrorist group FOXHOUND, rescue hostages, and uncover the truth behind the nuclear-capable weapon Metal Gear REX.
The experience uses artwork by Ashley Wood from the Metal Gear Solid comic series, enhanced with animation, camera movement, sound effects, music, and voice-like audio cues to create a cinematic presentation. Players can pause scenes to search for hidden memory elements, which unlock information about characters, locations, organizations, and events in an interconnected database. These collectible details provide additional context for the story and encourage exploring each sequence carefully.
