New Play Control! Pikmin for the Wii is an updated version of Nintendo’s original Pikmin adventure, reworked to take advantage of the Wii Remote’s pointer controls. The story follows Captain Olimar, a space traveler who crash-lands on a mysterious planet while piloting his ship. With vital ship parts scattered across the surface and a limited number of days to survive, Olimar must rely on the planet’s strange but helpful inhabitants known as Pikmin to recover what was lost.
Players command different types of Pikmin, each with unique abilities that determine how they interact with the environment and enemies. Red Pikmin excel in combat, Blue Pikmin can traverse water, and Yellow Pikmin can be thrown higher and handle explosives. Gameplay blends real-time strategy, exploration, and light puzzle-solving as players manage Pikmin squads, battle hostile creatures, and efficiently collect ship parts before time runs out. The Wii version introduces improved aiming and control, allowing more precise Pikmin throwing and squad management.
Often referred to simply as Pikmin Wii, this New Play Control! edition preserves the original game’s charm while modernizing its controls for a more intuitive experience.
