Paper Mario: Color Splash - Wii U is a colorful role-playing adventure that sends Mario to Prism Island after he receives a mysterious color-drained Toad in the mail. Joined by a talking paint can named Huey, Mario travels across the island to restore its missing color, recover the stolen Big Paint Stars, and stop Bowser and his forces from draining the world of its vibrant paint.
Gameplay combines exploration, puzzle solving, light platforming, and turn-based battles. Mario uses his Paint Hammer to restore color to drained objects and environments, uncover hidden secrets, and solve progression-based puzzles. Combat revolves around collectible Battle Cards, which represent attacks, items, and other actions, with players using paint to strengthen many of their moves before sending them into battle.
Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 2016, Paper Mario: Color Splash features a distinctive papercraft visual style and humor-driven presentation.
