Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - Nintendo 3DS is an action-adventure game that sends Luigi back into a ghost-filled mystery after King Boo shatters the Dark Moon, causing the normally friendly ghosts of Evershade Valley to become hostile. With guidance from Professor E. Gadd, Luigi explores several haunted mansions in search of the missing Dark Moon pieces.
Gameplay centers on exploring rooms, solving environmental puzzles, and capturing ghosts with the Poltergust 5000. Luigi uses the Strobulb to stun ghosts before vacuuming them up, while the Dark-Light Device reveals invisible objects, hidden doors, and ghostly footprints. Each mansion contains multiple mission-based stages filled with collectibles, secrets, keys, and distinct ghost encounters. The ScareScraper mode also supports cooperative ghost hunting with multiple players through local wireless play; its original Nintendo 3DS online functionality has been discontinued.
Developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo in 2013, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon expanded the original GameCube concept with multiple mansions, new ghost-catching tools, and multiplayer gameplay.
