Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin for the Nintendo Switch is a story-driven role-playing adventure set in the expansive Monster Hunter universe, offering a more narrative-focused take on the series. The story follows a young Monster Rider, a descendant of the legendary Red, who forms a special bond with a Rathalos hatchling foretold to bring either salvation or destruction. As strange environmental changes spread across the land and Rathalos begin to vanish, the Rider sets out to uncover the truth behind an ancient legend tied to the “Wings of Ruin.”
Along the journey, players are joined by a diverse cast of companions, including Ena, a Wyverian girl entrusted with protecting the Rathalos egg, and several allies inspired by familiar Monster Hunter characters. Gameplay blends traditional turn-based combat with strategic team building, as players collect monster eggs, hatch them into Monsties, and customize their abilities through a deep gene system. Battles emphasize reading enemy patterns, matching attack types, and coordinating powerful Kinship attacks between Rider and Monstie.
