Description
In Pokémon HeartGold, you return to the vibrant Johto region in a definitive remake of the 1999 classic. Choosing between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile, you embark on a quest to defeat the eight Johto Gym Leaders, stop a resurrected Team Rocket, and summon the legendary phoenix Ho-Oh to the Bell Tower. The adventure doesn't end there; after becoming Champion, you can travel to the Kanto region to claim eight more badges and challenge the legendary Red atop Mt. Silver.
The game introduces the series-favorite mechanic where any Pokémon can follow you in the overworld. It also featured the Pokéwalker, an infrared pedometer that allowed you to train your Pokémon, find items, and catch rare species just by walking in real life. Enhanced with touchscreen menus and the Pokéathlon mini-games, HeartGold stands as a high-water mark for the franchise.
