Mario’s Tennis for the Nintendo Virtual Boy brings the Mushroom Kingdom’s favorite characters to the court in a fast-paced, 3D sports experience that was one of the standout titles for the system. Known also as Marios Tennis Virtual Boy or Mario Tennis VB, this game features singles and doubles matches with seven playable characters, including Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong Jr., Yoshi, Toad, and Princess Peach.

Each character has their own play style, offering a mix of power, speed, and control to suit different players. Utilizing the Virtual Boy’s stereoscopic 3D display, Mario’s Tennis gives surprising depth to the court, making volleys, lobs, and serves feel dynamic and engaging. The simple two-button control scheme keeps gameplay accessible while still allowing for skill-based rallies and strategic positioning. Although it was a launch title for the short-lived Virtual Boy, Mario’s Tennis remains one of its most polished and enjoyable games, showcasing the console’s unique visual capabilities and Nintendo’s ability to deliver fun, character-driven sports gameplay even on experimental hardware.
