Alan Wake Remastered for PlayStation 4 revisits the psychological thriller that blends survival horror with episodic storytelling. The game follows Alan Wake, a bestselling novelist suffering from writer’s block who travels to the quiet town of Bright Falls with his wife, Alice, hoping to find inspiration. When Alice mysteriously disappears and pages from a novel Alan doesn’t remember writing begin to come true, he is pulled into a nightmare where darkness itself becomes a deadly enemy.
As Alan searches the forests, cabins, and shadow-filled streets of Bright Falls, he encounters hostile figures known as the Taken, townsfolk possessed by a supernatural presence. Combat revolves around using light as a weapon, weakening enemies with flashlights and flares before finishing them with conventional firearms. Along the way, Alan uncovers clues about a mysterious lake, a powerful force lurking beneath the surface, and the fate of those who have previously fallen victim to the darkness.
