Description

AquaAqua - PlayStation 2 is a 3D puzzle game centered on shaping terrain and controlling water. Players build raised areas and enclosed basins across floating landscapes, attempting to capture falling water without allowing too much to spill over the edges. The game serves as a follow-up to Wetrix, expanding the original concept with new stages, hazards, and challenges.

Gameplay revolves around placing different terrain pieces to create walls, valleys, and lakes. Water bubbles continually fall onto the landscape, while bombs, fireballs, ice, rainstorms, and other hazards can disrupt carefully constructed pools. Players must balance water retention with terrain height, since excessive construction can trigger earthquakes and damage the playfield. Story, puzzle, and competitive modes provide different ways to approach the water-management mechanics.

Developed by Zed Two and published in North America by The 3DO Company in 2000, AquaAqua is the PlayStation 2 sequel to Wetrix. Its unusual combination of falling-block puzzles, terrain building, water physics, and environmental hazards gives it a distinctive identity among early PlayStation 2 puzzle games.
