Dark Sector for the PlayStation 3 is a third-person action game that follows covert operative Hayden Tenno on a dangerous mission in the fictional Eastern European country of Lasria. After becoming infected by a mysterious biological agent known as the Technocyte virus, Hayden begins developing extraordinary abilities while uncovering the truth behind the outbreak and the forces attempting to control it.
Battle soldiers, mutated creatures, and heavily armed enemies using a combination of firearms and Hayden's signature Glaive, a bladed throwing weapon that can slice through enemies and interact with the environment. As Hayden's infection progresses, new abilities expand his combat options, while the Glaive can acquire elemental properties such as fire and electricity to solve environmental challenges and exploit enemy weaknesses.
Developed by Digital Extremes and released in 2008, Dark Sector combines cover-based shooting, melee combat, exploration, and supernatural abilities within a dark science-fiction setting. The game is also notable as an early project from the studio that would later develop Warframe, with several concepts and visual ideas carrying forward into that series.
