Dead Island: Riptide for PlayStation 3 continues the zombie survival saga following the events of the original Dead Island. After escaping the outbreak on Banoi, the surviving heroes find themselves stranded once again when a new wave of infection spreads across the nearby island of Palanai. With civilization collapsing around them, players must fight to survive against relentless hordes of the undead while searching for a way to escape.
The game combines first-person action, role-playing progression, and open-world exploration. Players can choose from several unique survivors, each with specialized skills and combat styles that can be upgraded through extensive skill trees. Cooperative multiplayer allows friends to team up and tackle missions, explore dangerous environments, and battle powerful enemies together.
Combat emphasizes melee weapons, ranging from machetes and baseball bats to improvised tools and custom creations. Players can collect resources, craft upgraded equipment, and modify weapons with devastating effects to improve their chances of survival against increasingly dangerous zombie threats.
