In Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, Square Enix returns the series to its roots with a "storybook" aesthetic and retro-inspired difficulty. The journey begins on the 14th birthday of a boy named Brandt, who is sent by the King of Horne to rescue the youngest princess from the Witch of the North. Alongside three other young heroes—Jusqua, Yunita, and Aire—Brandt embarks on a quest that expands from a simple rescue mission into an epic battle to save the world from an ancient curse.
The game’s standout feature is the Crown System, a simplified yet deep evolution of the classic Job System. By physically placing different headwear on your characters, you change their class, stats, and appearance. There are 28 Crowns to collect—ranging from standard Black and White Mages to unique roles like the Salve-maker and Elementalist. Battles utilize a unique Action Point (AP) system rather than MP, requiring you to manage a 5-point gauge for every move. The game is also notable for its cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to team up locally to tackle dungeons and earn specialized Battle Points.
