The Game Boy Advance (GBA) with the Hispeedido V5 Laminated IPS mod is the current pinnacle of retro handheld hardware restoration in 2026. This system replaces the original dark, reflective TFT screen with a 3.0-inch high-definition LCD featuring a 720x480 resolution—exactly four times the pixel count of the original hardware. The "V5" iteration is technically distinguished by its Laminated Glass Lens, where the screen and protective glass are industrially bonded to eliminate air gaps, prevent internal dust, and dramatically increase color contrast and viewing angles up to 178 degrees.

The system is technically powered by a specialized PCB that supports a 9-to-1 integer scaling ratio, ensuring that classic 240x160 sprites are rendered perfectly without distortion or shimmering. It features a built-in On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu—activated by holding Select+L+R—allowing players to adjust 15 levels of brightness, toggle "Frame Blending" for flickering effects in certain games, and choose from four distinct Retro Pixel Modes (including Scanlines and original AGS-101 grid styles). 

Refurbished: The motherboard is cleaned inside and out with attention to the cartridge connector,  power switch, and buttons. Components like capacitors and power switch are replaced as needed.
