Hyperdimension Neptunia - PlayStation 3 is a colorful role-playing game set in the world of Gameindustri, a fantasy realm inspired by the video game industry and its competing consoles. The story follows Neptune, the personification of a fictional game system, after she loses her memory and falls from the celestial world of Celestia. Joined by new allies, Neptune travels across Gameindustri while investigating threats facing its four nations.
Gameplay combines dungeon exploration with turn-based battles featuring customizable attack combinations and positioning-based combat. Neptune and other characters can transform into more powerful goddess forms known as CPUs, gaining enhanced abilities during battle. Players can develop different attack sequences, equip weapons and accessories, complete quests, and explore areas populated by monsters and references to gaming culture.
Developed by Idea Factory and originally released for PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2010, Hyperdimension Neptunia arrived in North America through NIS America in 2011. The game launched a long-running franchise known for its self-aware humor, anime-inspired characters, and playful interpretations of the video game industry, making the original release an appealing choice for JRPG fans and PlayStation 3 collectors.
