It Takes Two for PlayStation 4 is a cooperative action-adventure game built entirely around teamwork, telling a heartfelt and imaginative story about a fractured relationship. The narrative follows Cody and May, a married couple on the brink of divorce who are magically transformed into small dolls by their daughter’s tears. Trapped in this miniature world, the two must work together to find a way back to their human bodies while confronting the emotional issues that led them there.
As Cody and May journey through fantastical environments created from everyday household spaces, the game constantly introduces new mechanics that require close cooperation. Each character is given unique abilities in every chapter, meaning progress is only possible when both players communicate and coordinate. Along the way, they encounter quirky characters like the over-the-top relationship book Dr. Hakim, who pushes the pair to confront their problems in often humorous and unexpected ways. The gameplay shifts frequently between platforming, puzzles, action sequences, and mini-games, keeping the experience fresh throughout.
