Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects - PSP is a 3D fighting game that pits Marvel superheroes against a group of original villains known as the Imperfects. The roster includes characters such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, The Thing, Venom, Storm, Captain America, and Doctor Doom alongside fighters including Johnny Ohm and Brigade.
Unlike the console versions, the PSP release focuses almost entirely on one-on-one combat rather than story-driven exploration. Campaign mode challenges each character to a sequence of ten fights, gradually unlocking additional fighters, arenas, and collectible cards. Battles take place in interactive environments where players can use superpowers, throw objects, destroy scenery, and take advantage of each character’s unique movement and attack abilities. Quick Play and local wireless multiplayer provide additional ways to fight.
Published by Electronic Arts in 2005, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects features 18 playable characters and seven battle arenas on PSP. Captain America and Doctor Doom are exclusive to the handheld version, replacing Daredevil and Human Torch from the console roster. Its portable fighting focus, destructible stages, card system, and unusual Marvel-versus-Imperfects lineup give the PSP release a distinct identity.
