River City Ransom EX for the Game Boy Advance is an enhanced remake of the cult-classic NES beat-'em-up River City Ransom. Players take control of Alex and Ryan as they fight their way across River City to rescue Ryan's girlfriend and defeat the gangs that have taken over the city.
Battle enemies in free-roaming streets, schools, and other locations using punches, kicks, throws, weapons, and special techniques. Defeated enemies drop money that can be spent on food, books, and other upgrades to improve stats and unlock new abilities. The combination of side-scrolling combat, exploration, character progression, and light RPG elements gives the game a distinctive style that helped make the original a fan favorite.
Released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, River City Ransom EX expands on the original with updated visuals, additional characters, new techniques, and other gameplay improvements.
