Shining Force: Neo - PlayStation 2 is an action RPG that reimagines the long-running Shining series with real-time combat instead of traditional turn-based strategy. Players follow Max, a young warrior who sets out on a journey involving ancient powers, invading forces, and the mysterious energy known as the Force while gathering allies along the way.
Gameplay focuses on fast-paced battles against large groups of enemies, with players directly controlling Max while computer-controlled companions provide support. Weapons, armor, skills, and character upgrades allow for different combat approaches, while the Force Art system provides powerful special abilities. Players explore towns, dungeons, and outdoor areas, complete quests, collect equipment, and strengthen their party as enemy encounters grow more challenging.
Developed by Neverland and published by SEGA in 2005, Shining Force: Neo marked a major departure from the tactical gameplay associated with earlier Shining Force titles.
