Race through vibrant zones and collect the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos for the SEGA Game Gear, one of the most celebrated handheld entries in the Sonic franchise. Developed specifically for SEGA's portable system, Sonic Chaos combines high-speed platforming, colorful visuals, and unique gameplay features that set it apart from other Sonic adventures of its era.
Players can choose between Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower as they set out to stop Dr. Robotnik's latest scheme after he steals the Chaos Emeralds and threatens South Island. Each character offers a distinct playstyle, with Sonic relying on his trademark speed while Tails uses his ability to fly and access alternate routes throughout the game.
Sonic Chaos introduces several new mechanics, including the Rocket Shoes power-up that allows Sonic to reach incredible speeds and access hidden areas. Players dash through a variety of imaginative zones filled with loops, springs, moving platforms, underwater sections, and robotic enemies while collecting rings and searching for the missing Chaos Emeralds.
The Game Gear version showcases some of the system's best visuals, featuring large sprites, detailed environments, smooth animations, and memorable boss encounters against Dr. Robotnik's creations.
