Soul Calibur IV - PlayStation 3 is a 3D weapons-based fighting game featuring a large roster of warriors battling over the legendary swords Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. Returning fighters such as Mitsurugi, Ivy, Kilik, Nightmare, and Siegfried are joined by new characters, while the PlayStation 3 version also features Darth Vader as a guest fighter from the Star Wars universe.
Gameplay emphasizes directional movement, weapon-based attacks, throws, counters, and defensive techniques within fully 3D arenas. Players can compete through Story and Arcade modes, challenge the multi-floor Tower of Lost Souls, and create customized fighters using an extensive character creation system. Equipment can affect character statistics and abilities, adding an additional layer of customization beyond appearance and fighting style.
