Super Play Action Football - Super Nintendo is an American football game that offers professional, college, and high school levels of play. The professional mode features all 28 NFL teams from the era, while the college and high school modes provide additional ways to experience the sport with different playbooks, season structures, and levels of complexity.
Gameplay uses an angled, isometric-style field view and includes passing, rushing, kicking, tackling, audibles, and offensive and defensive play selection. Players can compete in quick games or work through full seasons in the college and professional modes. College play includes rankings and bowl games, while the professional season progresses through the playoffs toward the Super Bowl. Local two-player competition is also supported.
Developed by TOSE and published by Nintendo in 1992, Super Play Action Football followed the earlier NES Play Action Football with expanded teams, modes, and 16-bit presentation. Its unusual inclusion of high school, college, and professional football in one game makes it an interesting choice for retro sports fans and collectors building a Super Nintendo library.
