Yakuza: Dead Souls - PlayStation 3 is an action game and spin-off of the Yakuza series that places familiar characters in the middle of a zombie outbreak in Kamurocho. Players take control of Kazuma Kiryu, Shun Akiyama, Goro Majima, and Ryuji Goda as they fight through quarantined districts, rescue survivors, and uncover the cause of the disaster.
Gameplay shifts the series toward third-person shooting while retaining many familiar Yakuza elements, including exploration, side activities, character interactions, and dramatic story sequences. Players use pistols, shotguns, rifles, and other weapons to battle large groups of infected enemies and powerful mutants. Each playable character has distinct abilities and combat traits, while upgrades, equipment, and side missions provide additional progression throughout the campaign.
Developed and published by Sega, Yakuza: Dead Souls was released for PlayStation 3 in North America in 2012. Its unusual combination of Yakuza storytelling, zombie action, firearm-focused combat, and returning fan-favorite characters makes it one of the more distinctive entries in the franchise and an appealing choice for Yakuza fans and PlayStation 3 collectors.
