Allied General - PlayStation is a turn-based strategy game set during World War II that places players in command of Allied forces across a series of historical campaigns. Battles take place across Europe and North Africa, with players directing infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, and other military units while attempting to complete objectives and overcome Axis opposition.
Gameplay takes place on hex-based maps and emphasizes careful positioning, terrain, supply, unit strength, and combined-arms tactics. Players move units across the battlefield, engage enemy forces, capture strategic locations, and manage a core army that can gain experience and improve over the course of a campaign. Different unit types have specialized strengths and weaknesses, encouraging players to coordinate ground forces with air support and artillery rather than relying on a single approach.
Developed and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. and released for PlayStation in 1996, Allied General is part of the same strategy lineage as Panzer General.
