Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf - Super Nintendo is an isometric action game that puts players in control of an attack helicopter during a fictional Middle Eastern conflict. Missions take place across large desert battlefields where players must destroy enemy targets, rescue hostages, recover intelligence, and complete military objectives while managing limited fuel, armor, and ammunition.
Gameplay combines free-roaming exploration with mission-based strategy, requiring players to choose efficient routes between objectives and conserve resources. The helicopter is armed with machine guns, Hydra rockets, and Hellfire missiles, each suited to different targets. Players can land to rescue personnel or collect supplies, then return to a friendly landing zone to refuel, rearm, and repair before continuing the operation.
