Final Fantasy XIII - PlayStation 3 is a story-driven role-playing game set across the technologically advanced world of Cocoon and the mysterious land of Gran Pulse. The story follows Lightning and a group of companions who become branded as l’Cie and are forced to confront a predetermined fate while being hunted by the authorities. The adventure emphasizes cinematic storytelling, character relationships, and a large-scale science-fiction fantasy setting.
Gameplay uses the Paradigm Shift system, allowing players to change each character’s combat role during battles between classes such as Commando, Ravager, Medic, and Sentinel. The Active Time Battle system lets characters perform multiple actions in a single turn, while staggering enemies is key to dealing heavy damage. Character growth is handled through the Crystarium system, with new abilities and stat improvements unlocked as the party progresses.
Developed and published by Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII was released for PlayStation 3 in North America in 2010.
