Rayman 2: The Great Escape - Nintendo 64 is a 3D platforming adventure that follows Rayman as he fights to save the Glade of Dreams from the invading Robo-Pirates led by Admiral Razorbeard. After escaping captivity, Rayman travels through forests, caves, ruins, temples, and other imaginative environments while rescuing imprisoned friends and helping restore the world’s scattered magical energy.
Gameplay combines platforming, exploration, combat, swimming, sliding, and environmental puzzle-solving across a series of interconnected stages. Rayman can fire energy projectiles, swing across gaps, climb obstacles, ride creatures and vehicles, and collect Yellow Lums needed to progress. Hidden cages and optional collectibles reward careful exploration, while boss encounters and specialized action sequences add variety beyond the traditional platforming stages.
Developed by Ubisoft and published by Ubisoft in 1999, Rayman 2: The Great Escape marked Rayman’s major transition from 2D platforming into a fully 3D adventure.
