Spyro: A Hero's Tail - GameCube is a 3D platforming adventure that sends Spyro across the Dragon Realms to stop the evil Red from corrupting the world with Dark Gems. Along the way, Spyro explores colorful environments, meets familiar characters, and uses his fire breath, charging attacks, and other abilities to overcome enemies, puzzles, and environmental hazards.
Gameplay focuses on exploration, collecting, combat, and platforming across interconnected areas filled with Dark Gems, Dragon Eggs, Light Gems, and other secrets. Spyro can gain new breath abilities as the adventure progresses, while several additional playable characters—including Hunter, Sgt. Byrd, Sparx, and Blink—appear in specialized sections with their own gameplay styles and objectives. Minigames and optional challenges add extra variety beyond the main story.
Developed by Eurocom and published by Vivendi Universal Games in 2004, Spyro: A Hero's Tail marked a shift in direction for the series while retaining its exploration-focused platforming roots.
