Thousand Arms - PlayStation is a Japanese role-playing game that blends traditional fantasy adventure with dating simulation elements. Players follow Meis Triumph, a young Spirit Blacksmith who sets out on a journey after his hometown is attacked by the Dark Acolytes. Along the way, Meis meets a large cast of companions and works to strengthen both his relationships and his abilities as a blacksmith.
Gameplay combines exploration, turn-based battles, weapon forging, and character interaction. Meis can date female party members through conversation-based events, and developing stronger relationships allows him to forge and enhance more powerful weapons using his Spirit Blacksmith abilities. Combat places emphasis on party composition and positioning, while different characters bring their own attacks, magic, and support abilities to battles.
Developed by Red Company and published in North America by Atlus in 1999, Thousand Arms stands out for combining a traditional JRPG structure with relationship-driven progression and extensive character dialogue.
