Mario Bros. for Atari 2600 brings Nintendo's classic arcade action game to the home console, starring Mario and his brother Luigi as they work together to clear the sewers of invading creatures. Players must patrol a series of platforms, defeating enemies that emerge from pipes while avoiding hazards and staying one step ahead of the action.
Unlike later Mario adventures, the gameplay focuses on arcade-style platform action rather than side-scrolling exploration. Players knock enemies onto their backs by striking the platform beneath them, then quickly move in to kick them off the screen and earn points.
As the game progresses, new enemy types and faster movement patterns increase the challenge, requiring quick reflexes and careful positioning. The simple controls make it easy to learn, while the escalating difficulty and score-chasing gameplay provide plenty of replay value.
