In Heatseeker, the Wii serves as the lead platform for an explosive, arcade-style dogfighter that prioritizes "missile-cam" carnage over realistic simulation. You play as "Downtown," a pilot for the International Council (IC) Task Force, flying through a fictional global conflict across 18 missions. The game features over 30 authentic modern jets, including the F-22 Raptor, F-15 Eagle, and Su-47 Berkut, each customizable with a massive arsenal of over 40 different weapon types.
The gameplay is defined by the "Impact Cam," a cinematic feature that cuts away from the cockpit to show a slow-motion, close-up view of your missile obliterating an enemy target. On the Wii, the controls offer two distinct experiences: Arcade Mode (aim where you want to fly) and Professional Mode (the Nunchuk acts as a flight stick for pitch and roll). Unlike traditional sims, Heatseeker features unlimited ammo, allowing you to focus entirely on high-speed maneuvers and massive explosions while tracking enemies through a unique "threat detector" HUD.
